Hollywood trashes proposed change to Netflix

Some in Hollywood are not happy about a rumoured new Netflix function.

Reports indicate that Netflix will soon begin allowing users to increase the play speed of the content they are viewing.

Many audio book services and other video streaming services like YouTube already allow users to speed things up to their liking.

Judd Apatow, the producer of Girls and Freaks and Geeks, slammed the idea on Twitter.

“No @Netflix no. Don’t make me have to call every director and show creator on Earth to fight you on this. Save me the time. I will win but it will take a ton of time. Don’t f–k with our timing. We give you nice things. Leave them as they were intended to be seen.”

Brad Bird, the director of The Incredibles, echoed Apatow’s sentiments.

“Whelp— another spectacularly bad idea, and another cut to the already bleeding-out cinema experience. Why support & finance filmmakers visions on one hand and then work to destroy the presentation of those films on the other???”

Netflix has made no public comment on the controversy.
